Birmingham

A few minutes from the city centre, Digbeth has turned into a genuine creative quarter, with the BBC now moving production work into the area alongside independent studios and agencies. Between trade fairs, automotive marketing and a growing production scene, the demand for video here rarely lets up. We serve that market from the Canary Islands, on the same clock as the UK, for the businesses and agencies commissioning out of Birmingham.

What we produce

Four services, one straightforward deal

Storyboards, animation, product content and live action + AI, all built from an agreed brief. Schedule and deliverables are set for each project.

Storyboards & previs

We plan the narrative shot by shot, with art direction and approval criteria agreed in the brief before production begins.

We create animated campaign, explainer and brand pieces from an approved visual system; revision stages and deliverables are set out in the proposal.

Product content

We use product photography or supplied materials to create imagery and channel variants, with fidelity checks agreed before production.

Remote direction and post-production

Why you don't need us to be in Birmingham

Birmingham carries real weight as the UK's largest business centre outside London, with a trade fair calendar and an automotive industry, Jaguar Land Rover chief among them, that both need a constant supply of video. Alongside that, Digbeth has become a genuine creative quarter as the BBC shifts production work into the area and independent studios and agencies fill in around it. We are not trying to take a stage build or a location shoot away from that cluster. The briefing is a call, revisions happen on a phone, delivery is a link, and none of that depends on being local to the NEC or the Bullring. This is how we work internationally.

The process

How we work, step by step

Before production starts, we document the scope, approval milestones and project terms.

Brief and proposal

We review objectives, audience, references, source materials, channels and constraints. The proposal defines scope, schedule, revision stages, formats and rights before production starts.

Art direction

The first tangible material, a storyboard or style tests, to validate before producing. Changes happen here, where they are cheap.

AI production

Generation, editing and finishing under human direction, with approval points and revision stages defined for the project.

Multi-format delivery

We deliver masters in the agreed formats and document permitted uses and applicable licences in the proposal and contract.

Project variableHow it is defined
Scope and deliverablesIn the brief and proposal
Schedule and milestonesAccording to complexity, source materials and approvals
Revision stages and formatsIn writing before production
Rights and licencesIn the proposal and contract

These variables are agreed for each commission; projects with different needs do not share one universal schedule, revision allowance, format package or licence.

The proof

Projects and concepts, identified clearly

We show commissioned work, studio production and independent concepts with the status of each piece stated clearly, rather than presenting every sample as client work.

Case study

Honesty first

When you should NOT hire us

We give this the same weight as the pitch because it saves everyone a bad project. If the piece needs a real face holding a real performance, a spokesperson, a testimonial, a celebrity, that belongs with a traditional crew, and we will say so straight away. Live event coverage and observational documentary sit outside what we do too: that is a camera, a judgement call and physically being there. Where a company's brand or legal guidelines rule out generative AI, we accept that without argument. And where the bottleneck is distribution rather than production, changing the production approach will not solve it: spend on media instead.

How we produce with AI

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about commissioning from Birmingham

How is the project quote calculated?
We prepare the quote after reviewing the brief, deliverables, source materials, channels and finish required. The proposal documents scope, schedule, revision stages, formats and commercial terms before production starts.
Do we need to meet in person for the briefing?
No. The briefing is a 30-minute video call, and with the Canary Islands running on the same clock as the UK all year round, scheduling it around a Birmingham working day is straightforward. From there it is all remote: approvals by link, notes added directly to the piece, masters delivered digitally. If a project truly needs a physical presence in Birmingham, we will tell you upfront and quote it separately.
What turnaround times do you actually work to?
The schedule is set for each project according to scope, shot complexity, source materials and approval milestones. Dates are documented in the proposal before production starts.
Who keeps the rights to the AI-generated material?
Authorised uses, territories, channels, duration and required licences are set out in the proposal and contract. The rights chain for supplied and generated materials is documented before production starts.
What if my project needs a real shoot in Birmingham?
We integrate it rather than avoid it. Our live action + AI service blends real footage with generated material: your team can supply it, your usual Birmingham production partner can shoot it, or we quote a light shoot as a separate item. One thing we will not do is pass off a generated shot as filmed footage: each technique is used where it holds up.

Start with the small piece.

Tell us what your Birmingham team needs, which source materials exist, where the work will be published and what date shapes the project. We will prepare a proposal that documents scope, schedule, revision stages, formats and rights.
