Abades: The city that never was

In the 1940s, the Franco regime planned a city-sanatorium on the coast of Arico, Tenerife, to isolate leprosy patients. Buildings, a church, and entire streets were built — but the city was never used. The cure appeared before construction was finished.

Today, the ruins of Abades stand as a ghostly skeleton facing the turquoise sea of southern Tenerife. With artificial intelligence, we reconstruct what it was meant to be — and reveal what remained: a city frozen in time, where nature reclaims what humans abandoned.
